www.

Gritman.org

is undergoing a recon-

struction, and we will proudly unveil

our new site in January.

“Gritman and the people who rely

on the hospital deserve a modern,

attractive and functional website,”

said Gritman Community Relations

Director Marty Johncox. “In the

coming years, people will increas-

ingly use a hospital’s website and

mobile apps to help them manage

their healthcare. is website is lay-

ing the foundation for that.”

In10sity.net

, which has completed

hundreds of hospital websites, car-

ried out the redesign of the Gritman

site. Johncox, who studied Web de-

velopment at the College of Western

Idaho and has created many web-

sites himself, researched best and

GRITMAN

is pleased to work

with RelayHealth to provide the

public with online access to medical

records generated at Gritman.

“Gritman wants to encourage

patients to be more involved in their

care,” said Kane Francetich, Gritman

CIO. “ e idea is that every patient

should have easy, instant access to

their health information at any time.”

Gritman patients, or those who

have had a test or procedure at Grit-

man, can use the secure Internet

portal to access their health informa-

tion online, including lab or imaging

test results, and they can also enter

their own information about aller-

gies, past procedures and existing

health conditions. is will assist

future healthcare providers who may

care for the patient. e portal was

designed with patient privacy as a

priority and complies with all state

emerging practices for hospitals and

guided the redesign, along with the

Gritman board and a focus group of

community members.

New features of the website

include:

w

Easier navigation, including photo

links to the most popular Gritman

features.

w

Fully responsive—the site re-

arranges itself to present the best

layout for a desktop computer,

smartphone or tablet.

w

Access to the patient portal, which

allows people who have been at Grit-

man to access electronic versions of

their Gritman medical records.

w

Compelling text, photo and video

stories from people about how Grit-

man’s people and technology im-

proved their lives.

and federal privacy laws.

To reach the portal, go to

www.gritman.org/portal

. Some

things to keep in mind:

w

You will need an active email

address to start the service.

w

You will be prompted to enter

your date of birth and verify your

identity and demographic informa-

tion, as well as create a user ID and

security questions.

e portal is the beginning of

larger e orts to give patients more

access and control over their health

records. In the not-too-distant

future, people will also be able

to access their treatment plans,

contact their doctors and make

appointments—all online.

Portal assistance is available

by phone at

) or by email at

Parallax scrolling, a new design

trend that gives the impression there

is an “inside” or three-dimensional

aspect to the website.

Some popular features will re-

main, such as the calendar, online

bill pay, the baby nursery and help

nding a doctor.

Gritman is also responding to

regulatory trends. e Centers for

Medicare & Medicaid Services is

requiring all healthcare providers to

meaningfully use electronic medi-

cal record (EMR) technology in the

2010s. Among other things, pro-

viders must use EMRs to improve

the quality, safety and e ciency of

healthcare; engage patients; improve

care coordination; and maintain pri-

vacy and security of patient health

information.
