Gritman Medical Center | Connections | Fall 2014 - page 2

Capital investments further Gritman’s mission.
Change comes
fast in healthcare with advancements in technology, sci-
ence, economics and regulation. What matters most is how
a hospital handles these changes and continues to focus on
providing the best possible healthcare to the people in its
community.
I am excited to share with you some of the additions that
Gritman has made, as we continue on in our mission to provide
excellent patient care to the people of our community:
w
Our 3-D mammography machine, which greatly improves
detection of tumors and hard-to-detect cancers. We were
proud to be the rst hospital between McCall and Spokane
to install this technology, and it is a vital addition to our Women’s Imaging Center.
w
A 64-detector/128-slice Aquilion CT scanner, which allows us to better diagnose
diseases and assess injuries more e ciently and with less radiation exposure.
w
A SPY Elite perfusion scanner. This equipment allows surgeons in the operating
room to see which tissues have the best blood supply, reducing infections and en-
abling surgeons to both remove tumors and reconstruct breasts in the same operation.
Gritman Medical Center is the only hospital in the area to utilize the SPY Elite perfusion
scanner; the nearest hospitals with this technology are in Boise and Seattle.
Committed to your health.
While all of these investments in technology are exciting
additions and enhancements to the services we o er, Gritman’s priority continues to be
your health, as we live out our mission to provide excellent patient care to the people
of our community.
